We are currently looking for an Education Volunteer to assist us in delivering a wide range of excellent education sessions, from ‘Minibeasts and me’ for nursery groups to ‘Studying animal behaviour’ for sixth formers. You may also help us on outreach where we take the sessions (and animals!) out to schools, or you may join us delivering the Zoo’s Conservation Academy to children in the school holidays.
It’s not just about being in the classroom though, as there are plenty of other tasks to do, such as researching an animal for a new sign, or being creative making new props. We also have a collection of animal skins, stuffed animals and preserved invertebrates to maintain, and a living collection of small animals to look after. Other behind-the-scenes work includes evaluating our work and administration, such as replying to letters from schoolchildren.
You would be an invaluable part of our team, supporting us in our education work and helping us to achieve even more.
In the short term we are only looking for one volunteer for this role, but may consider expanding this in the future.
